Workshops for Schools

At STAR, we partner with schools to support students’ mental health, emotional regulation, and social development through practical, evidence-based workshops. We also equip teachers and staff with tools to manage classroom dynamics, reduce burnout, and create trauma-informed, emotionally safe environments.

S-Support

refers to the ongoing emotional and psychological assistance provided to individuals as they navigate their therapeutic journey. This includes providing a safe space for clients to express themselves, offering encouragement, guidance, and resources that help manage mental health or behavioral challenges.

T-Treatment

involves the professional services and interventions provided to address the specific mental health concerns of a client. This may include therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches to help individuals manage or overcome their challenges.

A - And

represents the connection between Support, Treatment, and Recovery. It signifies that these elements are not separate stages, but interwoven parts of a holistic process. Each complements and strengthens the others—support fosters engagement in treatment, treatment facilitates recovery, and recovery deepens one’s capacity to seek and sustain support. Together, they form a continuous, compassionate pathway toward healing and growth.

R-Recovery

refers to the process of healing and regaining mental and emotional well-being. It involves the client’s progress in overcoming their challenges, which may include achieving personal goals, enhancing coping strategies, and rediscovering hope or a sense of purpose. Recovery is a continuous and individualized journey of growth, maintenance, and prevention, ultimately aiming for a state of stability and overall wellness.

Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills

Students of all ages face strong emotions—frustration, anger, sadness, and anxiety—but often lack the tools to manage them. This workshop helps students:

  • Identify and name their emotions
  • Learn grounding techniques and coping strategies
  • Understand how emotions affect behavior and relationships
We use interactive activities, age-appropriate language, and real-life examples to help kids build self-awareness and self-control.

Outcome: Students gain tools to manage big feelings, reduce outbursts, and improve classroom behaviour.

Academic pressure, social challenges, and life transitions can overwhelm young minds. In this workshop, students learn:

  • What anxiety feels like in the body and mind
  • Common triggers and how to recognize early warning signs
  • Practical ways to reduce anxiety, such as breathing, movement, and reframing thoughts
We normalize anxiety and equip students with simple but powerful tools they can use at school and at home.

Outcome: Students feel more empowered and less overwhelmed, with practical tools for managing daily stress.

Social dynamics can be tough, especially in group settings. This highly interactive session teaches students how to:

  • Understand other people’s perspectives
  • Practice active listening and respectful disagreement
  • Respond to peer conflict in healthy, assertive ways
Role-play, games, and discussion help students explore what it means to be a good friend, resolve misunderstandings, and build inclusive peer communities.

Outcome: Students improve their social skills, reduce peer conflict, and contribute to a more positive school climate.

The emotional toll of teaching can lead to compassion fatigue, burnout, and chronic stress. In this honest, supportive session, we guide staff through:

  • Identifying the signs of burnout and stress overload
  • Setting boundaries with empathy and professionalism
  • Building sustainable self-care into the school day
We emphasize the idea that self-care is not indulgent—it’s essential to long-term effectiveness and joy in teaching.

Outcome: Educators feel validated, re-energized, and equipped with tools to support their own mental health.
