Therapy Approach

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a strong focus on creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel empowered to heal, grow, and create meaningful change.

I have extensive experience supporting people navigating trauma, adverse life experiences, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, parenting concerns, and major life transitions. Together, we’ll explore these patterns, process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop practical strategies that foster resilience, self-awareness, and lasting well-being. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My clinical practice is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based care and integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and attachment-informed practice. Every treatment plan is tailored to your unique experiences, strengths, goals, and pace of healing.

Above all, I believe healing happens within safe, trusting relationships. My goal is to ensure you feel seen, heard, understood, and supported as you reconnect with your strengths, overcome life’s challenges, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Sport has been a lifelong passion of mine, and has shaped the way I approach resilience, performance, and personal growth. As a former elite athlete, I competed in volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, dance, and hockey, with volleyball becoming my primary sport. I trained with Team Ontario and earned multiple full-ride NCAA Division I scholarship offers before an ACL and MCL injury ended my competitive playing career.

Following my injury, I transitioned into coaching, mentoring athletes from U12 to U17 and helping teams achieve top-three finishes in Ontario and top-five rankings nationally. These experiences taught me that success is built on much more than physical ability, it requires confidence, discipline, resilience, mental toughness, and the ability to overcome setbacks.

Today, I combine my background as an elite athlete, coach, Registered Social Worker, and Certified Mat Pilates Instructor to support athletes and active individuals in strengthening both their physical and mental performance. Whether navigating injury, performance anxiety, confidence, motivation, or balancing sport and life, I help individuals develop the mindset and skills needed to perform at their best while prioritizing long-term health and well-being.

With over a decade of experience in child welfare, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, youth, and families through some of life’s most complex challenges. My experience includes child protection investigations, supporting children and youth in care, intake and crisis intervention, ongoing family services, reunification planning, parenting support, and working with families navigating separation, divorce, and high-conflict parenting disputes.

In addition to my clinical work, I have fostered more than 32 children and youth through Children’s Aid Societies across Ontario, providing care to young people with diverse backgrounds, complex trauma, behavioural challenges, and attachment needs. These professional and personal experiences have given me a deep understanding of child development, trauma, attachment, parenting, family systems, resilience, and the realities faced by children and caregivers involved with the child welfare system.

This foundation allows me to provide compassionate, practical, and trauma-informed support that helps children, parents, caregivers, and families strengthen relationships, navigate adversity, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Health and wellness have always been central to both my personal and professional life. After losing over 120 pounds through sustainable lifestyle changes, I developed a deep appreciation for the powerful connection between movement, nutrition, mindset, and mental health. This journey has shaped my belief that lasting wellness comes from creating healthy habits that support both the body and mind.

As a Certified Mat Pilates Instructor, I integrate evidence-informed movement with psychological principles to help individuals improve strength, mobility, confidence, stress management, and nervous system regulation. My background in nutrition, mental performance, and behaviour change allows me to take a holistic approach that supports long-term physical and emotional well-being.

As a former elite athlete, I understand the demands of high performance, resilience, discipline, and recovery. Whether working with individuals seeking to improve their overall wellness, manage stress, build healthier habits, or enhance performance, I am passionate about empowering people to develop sustainable strategies that help them feel stronger, healthier, and more connected to themselves.

I am passionate about making mental health education engaging, practical, and accessible through dynamic workshops, group programming, presentations, and guest speaking opportunities. Drawing on extensive experience in psychotherapy, child welfare, education, and community services, I deliver evidence-informed sessions that combine clinical expertise with real-world application.

I have designed and facilitated workshops for schools, community organizations, workplaces, healthcare professionals, parents, caregivers, and the general public on a wide range of topics, including mental health, stress management, resilience, trauma, emotional regulation, parenting, communication, relationships, burnout prevention, and overall wellness. My presentations are interactive, engaging, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each audience, providing participants with practical strategies they can immediately apply in their personal and professional lives.

Whether leading a small therapeutic group, facilitating psychoeducational programming, delivering professional development, or serving as a keynote or guest speaker, my goal is to create meaningful learning experiences that inspire growth, foster connection, and empower individuals, teams, and communities to thrive.

I am passionate about supporting the growth and development of helping professionals through clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional consultation. Throughout my career, I have hired, trained, and supervised more than 25 Child and Youth Workers, provided field instruction to Master of Social Work (MSW) students from the University of Toronto and other universities, and offered clinical supervision to Registered Social Workers (RSWs) across a variety of practice settings.

My supervision approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, creating a supportive environment where clinicians can build confidence, strengthen their clinical skills, navigate ethical and complex practice issues, and develop their professional identity. I encourage reflective practice, critical thinking, and evidence-informed decision-making while fostering resilience and sustainable self-care within the profession.

Whether supporting students entering the field, newly registered clinicians, or experienced practitioners seeking ongoing consultation, my goal is to empower professionals to provide ethical, compassionate, and effective care while continuing to grow in confidence, competence, and clinical excellence.
